Understand Percentile System of Medical Entrance Exams of Nepal. How the Percentile is calculated in Medical Entrance Exams of Nepal?

EXAMPLE of Calculating PERCENTILE in Medical Entrance Exams of Nepal:

Let us Consider that the Total number of Students appearing in MBBS Entrance Exams is 14,000.

And your Merit Rank in the Entrance Exam of MBBS is 3,000.

Hence, the Number of Students behind you is = 14,000 - 3,000 = 11,000.

Percentile is given by =
`\frac{TOTAL\ STUDENTS\ BEHIND\ YOU \ IN\ MERIT\ LIST }{TOTAL\ STUDENTS\ APPEARING\ THE\ ENTRANCE\ EXAMS}\times100`

= `\frac{11,000}{14,000}\times100`

= `\frac{11}{14}\times100`

= 78.57 percentile

Simply understand that the Half of students appearing in Entrance Exams will be on the Pass List. So there are no pass marks now. i.e. If 15,000 entrance candidates are appearing in the Entrance Exams, 7500 students on the Merit List, whatever the cutoff marks are, are pass other remaining are failed.
